Okay, I know everyone is wondering what kind of Palace I live in here in Baghdad, so I am including the best pictures I was able to get. You may notice in some of them the sky looks kind of cloudy or overcast. It is just dusty.
This one is from the front right hand corner. Notice the fancy wooden sidewalk! The cement walls you see are blast barricades in case you were wondering.Next up on out tour is going to be the front door. Yes that is right, this is the door by which I both enter and exit the tent! Nice I know. I'm sure by now you are thinking, "enough with the front already, lets get to the good stuff! Where is the back?" So for your viewing pleasure...
Her is the picture from the back. The box looking thing is our fancy AC Unit, and the side of the tent you see is the side I sleep on!
Now this one is from the front door looking in. It is sectioned of into "bedrooms" with these nifty little privacy curtains. So we do have our privacy. The tube looking thing running down the middle of the ceiling is piping the AC to everyone, and the little white circle about half way back is the fire alarm. If you take a left at the fire alarm, that is where you go into my "room". Which brings us to this next picture..
Now this one I had a little trouble taking. I had to hold the curtain back to take it, but didn't really have a lot of space to get back and get a good angle. But basically this is my room as I would enter it. To give you an idea, the bed goes from the wall of the tent, to the curtain when it is closed. Then....
This one was taken from the side wall of the tent out toward the center isle. Just wanted to let you see how huge my room is. Hope you enjoyed the tour.
Most of my squadron are in little trailers they are putting in, but a lucky few of us got the tents. They claim that they will have trailers for us to move into in about a month. If that actually happens I will post pictures of that once I move.
In my next blog I will take you on a tour of the Baghdad dust storms, so stay tuned!

I don't know why my pictures are transparent, so if anyone knows how to fix that, please let me know. In the mean time, you can just click on the picture and it will open bigger and let you get a better look.
Nice. No wonder you miss grass to mow! I'll have to show these to the kids next time they complain about not having big enough bedrooms. Will you have more space in the trailers?
it's the background you have on your blog. the pyram website or whatever it's called does that on most of their backgrounds.
those are some fancy tents you've got babe. you should go to broadhead's trailer and take pictures since i doubt you'll ever actually get to stay in a trailer. :)
love you!
I am jealous!! OK, not really but I can always pretend! At least you have an air conditioner to keep you a little bit cooler! Good luck on getting into a trailer!
Probably not more space in the trailers, just nicer space. But I am getting settled in, and don't mind the tents too much, so if I never go to a trailer I think I will be okay.
Hey babe, if you want you can try to find me a cool background that doesn't do that to pictures, and e-mail me the link. Thanks, Love you!
Well at least you have air conditioning and the curtains give you some privacy. Do you have showers in the tent or do you have to go somewhere else for that? Maybe they will come through and you will get a trailer. I'm not too impressed with all the "tan" color everywhere so I know you will be delighted to see some green again. And you will probably get to mow the lawn a few times since it will be August when you get back. Looking forward to the next batch of photos. (I agree with Marni--it is your background that causes the problem with your photos. It puts stars over everything.)
The showers are in a trailer back behind the tents a little way. It is not far, but it's not close either.
And here I was picturing you in a communal tent area kind of like on MASH.
Looks like fun!
P.S. No beds made up with military precision neatness? Where are the hospital corners? In fact, where are your sheets?
that's what i was wondering. where are your sheets? and it looks like you need to dust. :) ha ha!
Sorry. We are not inspected like in Basic, however I do try to keep it neat. When I took the picture, I was actually doing laundry and my sheets were being washed as well. I do have them though.
