Sorry it has taken so long to get this posted. Sorry if it was also not worth the wait. Anyway, below you will find some pictures showing how it is in a dust storm and without a dust storm. I tried to take the pictures from about the same place but it may not match up perfectly. Enjoy! These first ones are obviously of helicopters. As you can see on the dusty picture, it is really not all that dusty on this day, just more than the clear day.
Here are some C-17s and a C-130 in the dusty picture. Notice you you can't really even see past the back of the planes.
Some more planes, with the cargo yard in front. So this is pretty much where I work, dust or shine!
Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Kind of reminds me of Texas!! I hated it when it was dusty there so I can only imagine how much I would hate it there!! Good luck breathing!
looks fun! i hope you walk around with your gas mask on. :)
Good grief! Sorry, Susannah, but I think those pictures make West Texas look like the Garden of Eden! What a barren place.
And here we are moaning that Mike is going to have to mow the lawn twice ove today just to get it all, it's gotten so long and thick because of all the rain. I guess we should just count our blessings!
Everything is all the same color--planes, ground, air -- still I'm glad you are on that secured airbase instead of out there in the midst of everything else. What kind of dust masks do they give you to wear and do they help or are you having to breathe a lot of it? (sorry, just being a concerned mom)
How big is the base? Just this area in the photos looks as though it covers a lot of space.
I know you will be glad to see some color in the scenery again--glad it will still be summer and everything will still be growing and green when you get back.
I have to say I would not be handling that very well. I bet you'll forever appreciate green when you come back!
andrew is taking suggestions on what to blog about next. so if there's something you're curious about, just write your suggestions here.
