Memory Lane

I am sorda back online. Not really though. I am still in Texas at Lackland AFB for training but wanted to take advantage of this memory thing, to see if people remeber things I don't. After I get home next month I will take some time to blog about time here, incase anyone was wondering about it. For now, memeories....

Here are the instructions:

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot; anything you can remember.2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's fun to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

Hey! How's the training going? It's nice you are able to be in touch with the outside world a bit now. Less than 2 weeks now!!!!

Well, I have lots of fond memories but some of my favorite: remember when you were my "Pal" which basically meant that you had to do whatever I told you! I'll never forget the big dog-bite incident, either. Or the time you set the hillside on fire while playing with ants. Or how cute you were wearing a fake beard in the pioneer day parade. Remember that hand-cart Dad built? That was awesome! We were the best little pioneers in the parade!

Like Alison, I remember well having you and Jonathan be our "Pals"--aren't big sisters the best? And I have very vivid memories of the dog bite. Oh yeah and the horrible accident with the hay baler. And when you broke your arm so we had to postpone our vacation. I also remember when you choked on the hot dog on your birthday and instead of spending a fun day in Provo, we spent it at the hospital. Boy, it's kind of a miracle that you lived to adulthood! Hey, do you remember that fanny pack that you wore night and day for your entire 7th grade year?

It seems as most of you older ones have fond memories of me passing out your lunch through the window, and you all had your favorite play spots out under the trees..you called them your "houses" and would go and visit each other (Jonathan's was always full of Tonka trucks). Of course, I have tons of memories, but one that I recall from when you were small is Christmas when you were 3. You had been wanting a dump truck and that's all you talked about. Tradition was that you didn't go into the living room where the Christmas tree was until everyone was called in one at a time. Well, that Christmas morning you were going to go out really early with your Dad for a couple of hours before time for presents, and you went into the dining room and peeked into the living room and just stood there saying, "I got it, I got it, I got my dump fruck!" And then there was that memorable time when you were much older (old enough to know better) when you and Kevin found the ant hill and decided to burn them out (one of you poured the gas on it and the other struck the match) and you ended up burning down half the hill. Your dad had to have the water truck driver from his work come up and put it out. What I remember most was you coming back to the house and asking for some gallon jugs of water because you had this "little fire", but I could tell from the expression on your face that you had a big problem. (Amy is right, it's a wonder you made it to adulthood). And the time when you were about a year old and managed to get the lid off a paint can and very happily spread paint all over the carpet upstairs, and all over yourself, but you were just having a ball and couldn't figure out why I was upset. It took me forever to get all that paint off of you and clean the carpet, but I remember the sheer joy you were having while you were spreading it everywhere. (Do you still enjoy painting?)

HAHAHAHAH the FANNY PACK! I'd forgotten about that fun little memory! You and Kevin were loyal to those fanny packs forever. Also: remember the non-stop praying? I'm still not sure what that one was about!

I wish you were coming to Michigan. I'm sure we'll have a lot of "do you remembers?" floating around!

Hey Andrew...
I remember going to your house and trying to get a drink from the spray thing on the faucet, instead of getting a cup and getting the water from the tap itself, and you told me not to 'cause that was where your dishsoap came out. I was amazed that you had a sprayer thing that mixed your dishsoap with the water. Embarrassing to admit, but for YEARS after that, I always assumed the spray things had soapy water come out.
Also, I remember playing with Jonathan and having you tease us about something. I don't remember what you were teasing us about, but I remember you were standing by the stairs and we were at the base of the stairs.

one of my first memories of you is when you had that beard. i hated it. :) no offense. you were always so sweet to me. i remember when i started liking you and you walked into aggie ice cream, i got butterflies cause i didn't know if you would talk to me or just go and flirt with jocelyn or what. and the rose that you put in the ice cream cone. that was the cutest thing! :) the trunk memory will always be a classic! the look on your face gave everything away! riding 4-wheelers was always lots of fun. it was always either freezing or raining. and then we'd have to make sure the registration was covered up if any park people came by. disneyland was lots of fun, for the most part. :) i have the best time when we're just having fun together. and on our honeymoon, our first hotel room was awful, but at least we have a good story to tell. it builds character. i learned to not drink water from the tap there. you probably don't remember that. ask me later. and you made me go to central park and turn my back on the dog-sized squirrels for a picture. i was so afraid they would attack and eat my eye-balls. and then just in the summer time when we'd play frisbee or go on walks or go fly your helicopter. oh! you thought magnet was pronounced magnent! that's funny. you taught me the correct way to make grilled cheese. these are all just really random things. you can fix pretty much anything with pretty much nothing. you always think of some crazy way to make it work. you always think of something dumb to say to make me smile when i'm in a bad mood. you listen to my weirdness and put up with it. you're an amazing father! lilly loves you sooo much and i'm sure the rest will too. probably because i'm the one that tells them no and you give them whatever they want. there's lots more, but i've written a ton already. and i'm sure they will be plenty more memories to make! love you babe!
