Secrets

Is it ever okay to share a secret with someone else?
How many people can you tell a secret to before it is no longer a secret?
Can you keep secrets from someone AND STILL be completely honest with them?
Is it okay to keep secrets from your spouse?
What are the requirements for something to be considered secret.

Don't worry. To my knowledge I am not keeping any secrets from anyone, especially not Marni. I just heard people talking about this somewhere, I don't remember where, Work maybe, and was just thinking about it.

I don't know...I am actually not a big fan of "secrets". I think keeping things like gifts as a "surprise" is fun. I think not spreading gossip is good. But secrets I don't like. And if anyone asks me to "not say anything" it's usually because they are spreading gossip. Plus, it goes without saying that whatever I'm told WILL be shared with my spouse. If you don't want him to know, just don't tell me! I think it breeds distrust to actually have things that you "can't" tell your spouse. I guess it depends what the secret is all about, but I'm just not a fan. PLUS as a parent, I definitely don't want my kids to have secrets or things they feel they can't tell their parents. So I try not to encourage secret-keeping except in the case of keeping a gift as a surprise.
